Eyelid surgery
General
As you age, your eyelids may droop a bit. This causes a tired look, a heavy feeling above the eyes and sometimes headache symptoms. Eyelid surgery solves this problem. It’s a small procedure, but with great results.
Who is eyelid surgery suitable for?
Eyelid surgery, also known as an eye elevator, is a good option when you look tired while not feeling tired. Droopy or heavy eyelids are common. They usually result from aging, but there may also be a hereditary predisposition. If your drooping eyelids are bothering you or bothering you, eyelid surgery can help.
Treatment
Eyelid surgery involves removing excess skin tissue from the upper eyelids and sometimes excess fatty tissue. Before treatment, the doctor marks off exactly where the incisions will be made. An electrical device is used to remove skin tissue.
Eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia. The punctures can be briefly unpleasant, but after that the treatment is painless. After the procedure, the skin is sutured with a subcutaneous suture. Then the area is cooled for 10 minutes with cooling goggles to reduce the risk of swelling.
The treatment lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
The result
For the first few days after the procedure, the area around your eyes will be blue and swollen. The worst swelling and discoloration is gone after about 10 days. After this period, most people return to work.
The final result of the surgery is visible after about three months.
